WITH GROUPS CREATING PROGRAMS TO ENCOURAGE FEMALES TO CONSIDER STEM, WHAT IS THE BIGGEST BARRIER TO ENTRY THAT IS STILL PREVALENT TODAY?
I think one of the biggest challenges that I faced was not having enough mentors in my area of expertise to help me grow and succeed. I used to often participate in my major’s organizations where I worked on getting community involvement in our community to work together to improve things. I’m still an active member of the Society of Women Engineers. For me, it’s a chance to see how other female engineers are excelling in areas that are traditionally male-dominated.
WHAT OR WHO INSPIRES YOU?
One of the things that amazes me every single day is that I have been blessed with the opportunity to continue to work towards my career goals in Information Technology. I have met a few women in my area who are working towards the same goal and it makes me smile every single day knowing that we are making a difference in the world.
WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT/ACCOMPLISHMENT?
One of my proudest moments is when I look back on my career and where I’ve been. One day during the pandemic, I was inspired to start my own Blog to share my career journey and how I’ve never given up on myself knowing it hasn’t been easy. Cam’s Tech Blog https://camstechblog.com/
Right now I am working on a big project that I cannot wait to share with you is the publication of my book. I started this blog as a way to write for myself and as a way to inspire and motivate other people who are interested in working in IT.
